-- Frequently Asked Questions --

  • Is IV Vitamin Therapy safe?
Yes, it is safe. Our infusions are meant to bring you to an improved place of wellness, both physically & mentally. The therapies we offer have years of extensive support from empirical data and research. IV Vitamin Therapy has been utilized for over 50 years! All of our products are sourced from an accredited compounding pharmacy in Canada that complies with all FDA laws. We are regulated by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. All of our therapies are admistered by a specially trained Registered Nurse in IV Vitamin Therapy and overseen by a Physician.
  • Are your services covered by insurance?
Because our services are elective and considered "complementary", they are not covered by all Health Insurance companies. You will received a detailed invoice and we encourage you to submit it to your plan. Clients with a Health Spending Account may inquire about eligibility with their provider.
  • How long does an IV take?
You can anticipate your first IV Therapy appointment to take about 60-90 minutes. Most subsequent infusions will likely run between 45-60 minutes. If you're just popping in for an IM injection - you'll be out in 10 minutes! Please note - infusion times may vary person to person depending on your wellness goals and comfort level.
  • Are there any medical conditions that would stop me from getting an IV?
There are very few medical conditions that could stop you from receiving an IV. Prior to your first visit - all clients are required to complete a Medical History and Intake form. Our Medical Director will review it and our Registered Nurse will verify if there are any contraindications to getting IV Vitamin Therapy. Clients with cancer, unstable cardiac disease including cardiomyopathy or congestive heart failure, severe kidney disease or severe liver disease will be required to have an extra assessment from our physician prior to starting IV Therapy. We will review each circumstance individually to decide if it is safe for you to proceed. Alternatively, if you have major health conditions - you are welcome to consult your primary care physician to discuss whether or not this type of therapy is suitable for you. At this time - we do not offer our services to clients on renal dialysis or those that are pregnant.
  • Does it hurt?
Because this is an elective treatment - we are able to use very small needles to start our IV's. Some clients report slight discomfort with the poke - but once the needle has been removed and only the small plastic cannula is in place - you won't feel a thing! We do our absolute best to make sure you're as comfortable as possible. You will have have full movement of your arm once the IV therapy has begun.
  • Do I need to do anything before I come to my appointment?
We encourage client's to drink plenty of water before they come to their appointment and have a little food in their stomach. We also require all NEW clients to complete a medical history and intake form. You are welcome to do this ahead of time via the link on our website - or arrive 15 minutes early to your first appointment and you can complete the online forms at our clinic.
  • What can I expect during my visit?
Upon arrival, we will review your medical history with you and answer any questions you may have. Our Registered Nurse will take your vital signs and prepare the infusion you have selected. You will relax in one of our comfortable recliners where we will start your IV & deliver your infusion. You are welcome to sit back, scroll through your phone, listen to music, read a book or enjoy a show on our large screen TV. Once you're infusion has been completed - we will check your vital signs once again and ensure you're feeling well before you head home.
  • What can I expect after my infusion?
After receiving an IV infusion - most people feel relaxed and refreshed. It is common for people to sleep well that night and to wake up with increased energy levels. It is not uncommon for some people to have a mild vitamin taste in the back of their throat. Clients that receive Glutathione, MAY experience some form of mild detox symptoms.
  • How often can I get an IV?
There is no exact answer to this as everyone responds differently. The benefits of IV therapy are often felt with a single treatment. Some clients choose to come for weekly infusions while others opt for bi-weekly or monthly visits - whichever suits their wellness goals. Not sure which is right for you? No problem. Our Registered Nurse will discuss options to suit your goals.
  • Should I consult with my family doctor?
Our IV infusions are elective, so it's not required to have a Doctor's note prior to your appointment. However, if you have any chronic medical conditions - you are welcome to consult with your primary care physician prior to booking. You are also welcome to speak with our Medical Director or Registered Nurse if you have any questions.
  • Can I get an IV if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not offer our IV and Injection services to women that are pregnant. Women who are breastfeeding are welcome to book an appointment as research suggests it is safe for nursing mothers. However, we strongly recommend you speak with your primary care provider beforehand to make sure it's a good fit for you.
  • Can a child or teenager get an IV infusion?
We currently offer IV infusion services to children 14 years of age and older. The teen must weigh at least 100 pounds and be willing to get an IV. We also require prior parental consent.
